In the wake of the two major financial crises which occurred in Turkish economy in 2000 and 2001, 26 private banks were taken over as part of the economic reforms implemented by the State. Kentbank was one of these banks. Kentbank which had 94 branches around Turkey and 2000 employees at the time it was taken over, won in the legal battle it had been waging regarding its expropriation, in 2006.
