KORTEKS Mensucat Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (KORTEKS Industry and Trade Inc) has the distinction of being the first company from which the Zorlu Group was formed. Founded in 1976, KORTEKS Mensucat has yarn, weaving, and knitting plants in Bursa and a curtain industry plant in Luleburgaz. With facilities giving it a fully integrated production structure, KORTEKS offers a rich variety of textiles for the
home. The foundations of KORTEKS were laid in 1982 with the establishment of its weaving plant. In 1985, a fabric finishing plant was added to the production line .In 1989, Zorlu Holding acquired the shares of Nazim Ticaret Tekstil Sanayi AS, another textile manufacturing and trading company, renaming it Zorlu Brode Sanayi ve Ticaret AS, (Zorlu Embroideries Industry and Trade Inc). At the beginning of 2000, this company was renamed KORTEKS Mensucat Sanayi ve Ticaret AS–KORTEKS Perde Fabrikasi, a curtain manufacturer. The KORTEKS polyester yarn plants commenced operations in 1989.
