Çayeli Bakır İşletmeleri has been operating in the district of Çayeli and the town of Madenli in the Rize province since 1994. Çayeli Bakır, which produces copper and zinc ore, has the capacity to produce 1.1 million tons of ore annually. Providing about one third of Turkey’s copper mine demand, Çayeli Bakır ranks 39th among Turkey’s top taxpayers in 2016 with 83.1 million TL in taxes. As of
2016, the company is in the second place in the mining sector with 103 million dollars in export.
1967-1975 MTA (Mineral Research and Exploration) drilling and exploration.
1983 Çayeli Bakır İşletmeleri A.Ş. was founded.
1989 Phelps Dodge sold its shares to Metall Madencilik, which was called Inmet Mining later.
1992 Investments and building work began at Çayeli Bakır for mine development.
1994 Concentrated production began.
2004 Çayeli Bakır became a one hundred percent Inmet Mining Company.
2007 The record was broken with over 1 million tons in production in a year.
Today Çayeli Bakır is proud to be Turkey’s largest metal mining operation.
2009 Çayeli Bakır took its place among the giants in Turkey’s tax record breakers.
2011 Annual production reached 1.2 million.
2012 The company became the export champion of the mining sector.
2013 First Quantum Minerals bought out the Inmet Mining shares.
2013 The company celebrated its 30th year.
